Browser Extension Privacy
The bookmark.land browser extension has one purpose: saving and organizing web pages in your bookmark.land account. This page explains exactly what it can access and what it sends to bookmark.land. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which covers the bookmark.land service as a whole.

Permissions and why we ask for them
- Read the address and title of the page you are viewing (tabs)
- Quick save needs the current page's address and title, and the saved-page check mark on the toolbar icon needs to know when you switch tabs or navigate. Only the active tab's address is checked. The extension does not record, store, or transmit your browsing history.
- Read cookies on bookmark.land (cookies)
- You sign in on bookmark.land, never inside the extension. The extension reads the bookmark.land sign-in session so it can act as you. No other website's cookies are read.
- Read your browser bookmarks (bookmarks)
- Only used when you start the browser-bookmark import and only for the folders you select in the preview. The extension never modifies, reorders, or deletes your browser bookmarks.
- Storage (storage)
- Keeps a failed right-click save in Chrome session storage so the popup can offer a retry. Cleared when the browser closes.
- Context menus and side panel (contextMenus, sidePanel)
- Adds the right-click 'Save to bookmark.land' entries and hosts the Library side panel. These grant no data access.
- Access to https://bookmark.land, https://convex.bookmark.land, and https://clerk.bookmark.land
- The only three sites the extension can talk to: bookmark.land for your session, convex.bookmark.land to read and update your library, and clerk.bookmark.land, our sign-in provider, to obtain a short-lived token.
What is sent to bookmark.land
- The address and title of a page or link you choose to save, when you click Add, press the keyboard shortcut, or use the right-click menu.
- The address of the tab you are viewing, while you are signed in, so the toolbar icon can show whether that page is already in your library. This check is a lookup against your own library. The address is not stored unless you save the page.
- The browser bookmarks and folders you select in the import preview, when you confirm an import.
- Collection, tag, favorite, and note changes you make in the popup or side panel.
- Your bookmark.land sign-in session, so requests are made as you.
This data is stored in your bookmark.land library and is handled under the Privacy Policy. Our service providers are Clerk (sign-in) and Convex (database hosting); both act only on our behalf. Deleting a bookmark, or deleting your account from Settings, removes the data.
What the extension never does
- Record or upload your browsing history.
- Read page content, form fields, or keystrokes. The extension has no content scripts and does not run on web pages.
- Modify your browser's bookmark tree.
- Include analytics, advertising, or tracking code.
- Sell your data, or share it with anyone other than the service providers that run bookmark.land.
- Load code from the internet. All code ships inside the extension package.
Limited Use disclosure
The bookmark.land extension's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide and improve the extension's single purpose described above. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not used to determine creditworthiness, and not transferred to third parties except as needed to provide the service, to comply with law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with notice.
Questions
Use the contact details in the Privacy Policy. You can uninstall the extension at any time from chrome://extensions; uninstalling removes the extension's local storage but not the bookmarks you saved to your account.
